Your legs give out at 2 PM. Mine too. Until I figured it out. It’s not magic. It’s not gear tech. It’s the stuff we ignore, like food, water, and bad habits.
No shit sherlock... right?
Well then read on and tell me you're not guilty of at least one of these cardinal sins!
Forget Breakfast, Pay Later
That “I’ll just grab a coffee and hit the hill” move? It’s why you’re cooked. I used to do it. Now I force down something—oats, a bagel, leftover pizza, anything. If you skip fuel, you’ll run on fumes, and by the afternoon, your legs are done.
Drink Water
Cold makes you forget to drink, but your body’s still sweating and breathing out moisture. No water = tight muscles, cramping, sluggish legs. I carry a bottle. If I don’t, I’m wrecked. Simple as that.
Stance and Setup Matter
If your boots are crushing your feet or your stance is awkward, it’s like running a marathon in bad shoes. I used to blame my fitness. Turns out, my bindings were off and my boots were too tight. Fixed that, legs lasted longer. Look at your setup before you call yourself out of shape.
Pre-Season Helps. A Lot.
I’m not talking gym bro stuff. Just get your legs moving. Squats, lunges, hikes—whatever you can handle. If you sit all year then expect to ride bell-to-bell, your legs will laugh at you. Hard.
Eat on the Lift
I keep a sandwich or trail mix in my pocket. Not fancy, just enough to keep things moving. If I wait for lunch, I’ve already lost the fight. Small bites during the day keep me from crashing (in more ways than one).
Wrap It Up
If you’re gassed by 2 PM, it’s probably not a mystery. Eat, drink, check your setup, and move a little before the season. Trust me—your legs will thank you when you’re still riding at last chair.
