This January, we’re heading back to Hokkaido for the first time since 2019.
Niseko was our base last time. We loved it, but this trip we want to move around more, chase conditions and see a bit more of Hokkaido beyond the obvious stops.
We’ll also be testing a lot of gear properly while we’re there. Boards, bindings, boots, outerwear and camera kit – some supplied by brands, some borrowed, some stolen (shh), some ours.
The point is simple: ride it hard enough, often enough and in enough different conditions to actually have something useful to say.
What We’re Testing
We’re already lining up boards, bindings, boots, outerwear, protection and camera gear for the trip.
Some brands are sending gear, some are lending it, and some of it is stuff we’ve bought ourselves.
Supplied gear doesn’t buy a positive review. If something is brilliant, we’ll say so. If it’s annoying, disappointing or just a bit average, we’ll say that too.
Where We’re Going
We’re keeping the route fairly loose on purpose.
Niseko will probably feature, but we don’t want to spend the whole trip there. Hokkaido has too much good riding to just repeat our previous trips.
Weather will decide a lot of it anyway, which is exactly how we like to travel.
If there’s somewhere you think we absolutely shouldn’t miss, tell us.
Want Us to Test Something?
If there’s a board, binding, boot or bit of gear you want tested in Hokkaido, send it over.
We’re especially interested in stuff that’s hard to judge from one demo day or a few groomer laps.
If there’s enough interest in something, we’ll try to get hold of it.
Come Ride With Us
If you’re going to be in Hokkaido in January, give us a shout.
We probably won’t know exactly where we’ll be until fairly close to the day, because snow will dictate a lot of the route, but if we cross paths we’re always up for a few laps.
We haven’t been back since 2019.
This one feels overdue.
